I sent them a message to ask about the status of the port blocking issue. I've been reading forum messages going from January until now complaining about the issue. I just received a reply from their customer service which said:<br>

the network.</p>
<p>>As our customers request a particular port to be unblocked, we assess
the impact that this will have on our customers and on our network.</p>So my understanding at this point is they're whitelisting ports on a case-by-case basis if they have enough customers complain about a particular port/app not working. This doesn't resolve any issues with apps that assign random ports from a range.<br>
<br>Tied to this is that I don't believe they provide an IP address to a phone connected to the data network. So you can SSH out but you can't SSH in. Not sure if this is common amongst providers.<br><br>That's as much as I've been able to glean from my wanderings.<br>
