Hi there Hackspacers,

We (myself and two others) are organizing a meeting at Rhizome Cafe on May 5th to discuss the creation
of a communally owned and operated workspace, which we are calling Vancouver Community Laboratory (VCL)
for now (quite a mouthful, I know). We want to create an open, accessible workspace similar to the
Techshop in california but run not-for-profit, putting the money paid in membership back into the space.

In many ways this idea is similar to that which started VHS, however our focus is to acquire
tools for woodworking, metalworking and whatever other large scale materials people want to manipulate.
Basically, where VHS has focused on electronics and software, VCL will focus on materials and physical design.

So, the details of the meeting
Location: The Rhizome Cafe - 317 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5T 1W5
Date: Wednesday May 5th, 2010
Time: 7pm

The Website: http://vancommunitylab.com

So, if you are interested please check out the website, respond with your ideas (I'm subscribed to the VHS mailing list) and come to the meeting on the 5th.

Thanks very much,
~sam
