Hi.
Since RobotMonth will be using the Hackspace Blue Plexiglass robot bases, I
thought folks might like a little history about the Blue 'Bots:
Just after the dinosaurs died off (1982), I began teaching Robotics at
Vancouver Community College.
By 1992, I had simplified the training robots down to a base very similar to
the Blue 'Bot bases. They were popular, and were used world wide in basic
robotics training (the University of Oita in Japan bought 30 of them for
their AI lab).
I will be demonstrating one of these vintage robots, as well as giving a
short introduction to the Blue 'Bot bases (which were made back in 1996, so
they might require a tune-up here and there) on Tuesday (June 1).
I hope this will help give everyone a start on designing their hardware &
software for Robot Month at Hackspace.
Wishing everyone the best,
-Karl Brown
