Are these Ubuntu events at the hackspace?
I agree that putting events behind a walled garden is really annoying,
and counter to the philosophy of openness. I just signed up for
EventBrite for a quick test-drive, and found it better than Meetup
(not to mention free.)
I've heard that there is a free support Saturdays for Ubuntu, which
I'd love to attend. I'm happy to RSVP, but I just feel icky
associating with Meetup.
