Hey guys. For what it's worth, I had a great time at Barcamp today. There
were some great discussions about everything from the implications of
Twitter on public transportation to the relationship between Burning Man &
Barcamp. For any & all of you who participated, great job.
Joe, I do agree with you that there could have been more hands-on stuff at
Barcamp, but I wish that you had brought that energy to the event today. The
beauty of Barcamp is that it is a reflection of the people that show
up. It's too bad that there were people waiting for another event instead of
joining the hundreds of passionate people who were out today.
Joe is also right about the fact that what I am proposing won't interfere
with what VHS is doing. If anything, I think that a Techshop-like entity
would be an asset to VHS. You have experience, and that entity would have
equipment. There would be plenty of ways to exchange those resources so that
everyone was better off. We all share the goal of furthering the Vancouver
hacker community and facilitating awesome projects, so let's focus on that.
I'm still compiling all the notes/discussion from the session about
coworking. I'll put them on the Barcamp wiki tomorrow and ping this group
when I do.
