Hey
After last night's lockpicking workshop, a couple of people have brought
to my attention that there were some issues with how the workshop was
conducted as far as Safety Concerns. Since we are currently operating
as an informal club, and we may or may not be covered under the house
insurance at this point (by the house, I mean the venue where we do our
hacking). Since a single accident could totally destroy any chance we
have of establishing a hackerspace, we're going to need to set some
groundrules.
1. Any heavy power tools (i.e. Table Grinders) must be used ONLY by the
owner of the tool.
2. The owner of the tool must provide their own table/stand to use this
table at the Hackery. They must make sure that it's appropriately far
enough away from any other electronic equipment.
3. The owner of the tool operates that tool at their own risk, and that
neither VHS, nor the Hackery take any responsibility for any misuse of
this heavy power tool.
4. The kitchen, and all equipment within the kitchen stays in the
kitchen. If you need a dish/plate/whatever for your own use, bring it in.
5. Everyone at the end of the night has to help clean the venue. Please
clean your own area before leaving the space, and take all of your
materails with you.
Also, I think that we need to invest in First Aid Training, since as we
grow, we may do more hazardous stuff, and we will most certainly need
this as we keep going. I think these ground rules are common sense, but
I think we need to make sure that they're followed. If you have any
questions, please let me know.
Thanks
Joe
