[Vanhackspace] Info for next week's table

Hey
This was going to just go to Dallas, but I'd figure I'd do a call out to the
list to see if we can get certain materials by this Tuesday for Multitouch
night.

Currently, I have the following tools to create a Multitouch Screen:

- Projector
- OSFRAM SFH485P IR LEDs (About a pack of them, very bright when shot with a
camcorder!)
- Modified WebCam (Removed IR Filter, Added Chunk of Developed Film to
filter visible light)

I need to get the following:
- Acrylic Sheet (18" by 24", available at Home Depot)
- Frame (Can be wood, but Aluminum apparently works better)
- Diffuser (Tracing Paper works fairly well, can get an 18" by 24" sheet of
this as well)
- Mirror

Also, it'd be good to try out two techniques. If we're going to do FTIR, we
need the following:
- Transparent Silicone Rubber (Sorta-Clear 40)
http://wiki.nuigroup.com/Compliant_surface

The last time I priced this, the most expensive thing was the Sorta-Clear
40, the cost breakdown should be like this:

- WebCam ($0 to $30)
- Exposed Film from Urban Source ($0.25)
- Acrylic Sheet ($25 ~ $50)
- Diffuser - ($2 - Used Elastics and Tracing Paper)
- Mirror - ($6 crap mirror from the nearby Shoppers on Commercial Drive)
- Picture Frame - ($25)
- Wood ($40)

I didn't buy Sorta-Clear, which is why I never released the prototype
(without the complaint surface, it doesn't work well). However, by using
DI, we might be able to get it working more quickly (plus if people
put/spill beer on it, the silicone won't get all funky).

More info is on the NUI Group Wiki: http://wiki.nuigroup.com

If people want to help get these parts, let me know.

Joe
