I understand some people reluctance to have an broadcast-identifying
object on their person, but I also think it's more maligned than it
should be. RFID is just the evolution of proximity cards (ISO 14443) and
vicinity cards (ISO 15693), and further back.
The OpenBeacon/Sputnik route is doable for RFID as well, just that the
unit cost is much higher, and this is an application where we don't
actually want the full range of the Sputnik.
I'm waiting for a shipment of more hardware (specifically the OpenPICC
unit as I mentioned), then I'll see about maybe come in to talk about
this stuff, just that Tuesday are generally hard for me (along with
Wednesday, it's the two nights my wife has for her 'weekend').
One of my current interests in regards to this is identification denial,
by means of custom blocker tags for active suppression - basically
prevent communication with any normal tags on my person without any
tampering with the tags (because this requires finding all the tags).
At the same time, I'd like to know when I'm been probed for RFID tag
presence.
